Installation Instructions
Important Notes: (Please read carefully before installation.)
1. System Requirements
ASPMaker
- Windows 98/ME/NT/2000/XP/2003/Vista/2008/7
ASPMaker requires the Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC) and Microsoft Jet 4.0 database engine. You already have these components if your system is running Windows 2000 (or later) or have Access 2000 (or later) installed. However, it is recommended that you download the latest version:
ASPMaker also requires a few other system files. If you do not have latest version of these files (usually Windows 98 users), you may experience ActiveX errors while running ASPMaker. To update your system, go the Microsoft download pages listed below. If you are not already using IE 6.0, it is recommended to install it first as it includes most if not all of the required files.
- Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 or later
- Service Pack 6 for Visual Basic 6.0: Run-Time Redistribution Pack (vbrun60sp6.exe)
- Microsoft Windows Script 5.7 (Windows 2000)
- Microsoft Windows Script 5.7 (Windows XP)
- Microsoft Windows Script 5.7 (Windows Server 2003)
- MSXML Parser 3.0
- DCOM98 for Windows 98, version 1.3 (Windows 98 only)
Server
- All Windows OS with Internet Information Services (IIS) (Other non-IIS web servers are not supported)
- VBScript 5.0 or later
2. Installation
Important: Before you install ASPMaker, you must be logged in as a user with administrative privileges.
If you use Windows Vista, note that User Account Control (UAC) and its Admin Approval Mode are enabled by default. When UAC is enabled, local administrator accounts run as standard user accounts. This means that when a member of the local Administrators group logs on, they run with their administrative privileges disabled. When you install, a User Account Control prompt is displayed, click Continue to start the application and let the installer run elevated.
It is also recommended that you turn off all antivirus or security softwares. (You can turn them back on after successful installation.)
Note: ASPMaker 8 can co-exist with previous versions of ASPMaker. You do NOT need to uninstall previous version of ASPMaker if you don't want to.
Double-click on the downloaded executable to start the installation process. Follow the prompts and change the settings whenever necessary.
To uninstall ASPMaker, go to [Control Panel]. Click [Add/Remove Programs] and select [ASPMaker 8.x].
Note about Data Execution Prevention
If you encounter errors during installation, do not ignore it, it is probably caused by Data Execution Prevention (DEP) in Windows XP SP2 or Windows Server 2003 SP1 or later versions. Re-install PHPMaker as follows:
1. Uninstall ASPMaker first.
2. Configure DEP using the Data Execution Prevention tab in System Properties:
a. | Click Start, click Run, type sysdm.cpl, and then click OK.
b. | On the Advanced tab, under Performance, click Settings.
c. | On the Data Execution Prevention tab, use one of the following procedures:
| ||||
d. | Click OK two times. |
3. Reboot for the new DEP setting to take effect.
4. Install ASPMaker again.
